Knowledge Base - VM2SMS Message Formats

VM2SMS (described in the related article below) has two different format options for messages received. Minimal and Full - within the Full format, certain fields may only be present if the applicable service or plan is enabled.

You can NOT reply to these messages - we can not relay your SMS back to the caller.

Minimal Format

This format is intended for simple notification of the event and will never use more than a single message per notification.

Example:

You got a voicemail.

Do not reply.

From: "Caller Name" <6045551212>
For: XXX - Your Name
Mailbox: 12345
Received: 2022-01-31 11:13:04

Full Format (with options)

This format includes additional information. The full format has a couple options within it - optional fields will not be present if the required option is not enabled.

  • Message - transcribed text included if enabled.
  • Callback - a link to return the call from your mobile or desk phone utilizing the system so your call display shows your office phone number.

For detailed information on these and other options please see the associated article on Email Options below.
