Sometimes it might be desired to alter, hide or change your call display for privacy or security, but blocking call display entirely can have negative effects. Some phone systems may reject your call; others might direct your call differently. In some cases, a missing call display can be mistakenly replaced with another number on remote systems.
To fulfill this need, we created two new feature codes!
When Caller ID is "blocked" or disabled a unique non-working call display is substituted for your actual number based on your area code and your extension.
*67 Outbound Caller ID Block Toggle
Dialing *67 will toggle Caller ID. Selecting a line and dialing this feature code will result in a prompt on the phone display as well as an audible message:
"Caller ID is DISABLED for outbound calls."
or
"Caller ID is ENABLED for outbound calls."
*68 Outbound Caller ID Block Next Call
Dialing *68 will disable the Caller ID for the next outbound / external call only. Selecting a line and dialing this feature code will result in a prompt on the phone display as well as an audible message:
"Caller ID is BLOCKED for the next outbound call only."
We hope you find this new feature code useful!
If you use this feature frequently, ask us about adding a feature key on your phone? The feature key has a label, and changes color to indicate the status!
Note that the *68 variation of this function does not return to normal behaviour until you complete the first external call. Calls to your co-workers do not count, and misdialed / aborted calls to not count. To ensure you are showing your call display you can dial *67 which will announce the status as it changes it.
